Nick Fury
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Samuel L. Jackson has played Nick Fury in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Thor (2011), Iron Man 2 (2010), Iron Man (2008) and will play him again in The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

In the Marvel comics, Colonel Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Fury was initially a CIA agent then became the leading agent of the espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D.

The recognizability of the character portrayed by Jackson in the films led Marvel to retire the original character, replacing him with his African American son Nick Fury, Jr., who is patterned on Jackson.
