Praying Hands

Trinity Church, Morpeth, Ontario was consecrated in 1854 with a foundation that had been laid a decade earlier. There is now just one memorial service a year at the church. This year after the service, Rev. Michelle Collins- Wongkee dedicated the chain-saw carving Praying Hands.

One of its first rectors was Archibald Lampman, Sr. His son also named Archibald Lampman was born in Morpeth in 1861 and became the finest of Canada's late 19th-century poets in English. There is a national memorial cairn to him at the church.

Trinity Church is part of the six point parish of The Parish of the Transfiguration that includes Ridgetown, Highgate, Thamesville, Aughrim, Florence and Dresden.
