Red Shadows
Weird Tales Magazine August 1928
The cover story for Weird Tales Magazine August 1928 was Red Shadows. It was the first of a series of stories featuring Robert E Howard's puritan avenger, Solomon Kane. Kane finds a girl attacked by a gang of brigands led by a villain known as Le Loup. As she dies in his arms, Kane determines to avenge her death, leading him from France to Africa.

The cover art for the 144-page magazine was by C(urtis) C(harles) Senf (1873-1949). He painted forty-five covers for Weird Tales, the last of which appeared on the July 1932 issue.
