2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 4

Porsche revealed the all-wheel-drive version of the new 911 at the Paris International Motor Show in September. The 2012 911 Carrera 4 is lighter, faster and more agile in comparison to its predecessor. In terms of design, the distinctive features of the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 include 22-mm wider rear wheel arches. This is required by the 10-mm wider rear tires. It also features a red light band that connects the two taillights. The AWD version of the 2012 Porsche 911 is available as both a coupe and a cabrio.

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Hybrid

Porsche introduced Panamera Sport Turismo Hybrid concept car at this year's Paris Motor Show. The car is a plug-in hybrid, much like the Chevy Volt or the Toyota Prius Plug-In. But, being Porsches, they're far from boring. Or cheap.

The intention is for the Panamera Sport Turismo to achieve 30 km, which is about 18 miles, on electric power alone. It should also be able to reach 130 km/h, or about 80 mph, on electric power alone. The Sport Turismo Concept is a parallel hybrid, which means that the wheels can be driven by the electric motors, the gas engine, or both at the same time. When working together, the car produces 416 horsepower, enough to make it accelerate to 60 in under six seconds.

Porsche rarely makes a concept car just to make a concept car. The Boxster, Carrera GT, and the 918 Spyder all started off as concepts that made it to production relatively unchanged.

Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid

The Porsche 918 Spyder with plug-in hybrid shown at the 2010 Geneva Car Show is due in 2013. This open two-seater is powered by a high-speed V8 as well as electric motors on the front and rear axle. The energy reservoir is a fluid-cooled lithium-ion battery positioned behind the passenger seat.

A button on the steering wheel allows the driver to choose between electric and 3 hybrid running modes. Under electric power alone, the car has a range of up to 25 km or 16 miles. Average fuel consumption is 3 litres/100km or 94 mpg. It will have a top speed of over 330 kilometres per hour (210 mph).
