June 16: Membership Luncheon
The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, p. 103 126.0 miles 105 degrees. 76 recordings of 23 types. 54% clear. Rasmussen: 48/51: -16. Heh. "fissiparous" a new word to me. They suggest that maybe the Great Orator... isn't, really. "Republicans haven't lifted a finger for job creation." I'm lifting a finger. Guess which one. John Hawkins: Obama could get high on bath salts and eat a baby. The headline would then be "Reporter asks Obama impertinent question about baby murder." Cartoon Today's big project was the WPAC Membership luncheon, held at McClellan's Lion's Gate (which used to be the Officer's club.) I remember previous visits, at least one, a buffet either for Easter or Mother's Day, and the swimming pool outside. Now they've made that a patio and moved the pool further out, which makes good sense. Also I remember coming with Rich when Lion's Gate took over. Also, we have a geocache outside next to the plaques that tell the history of the base. On the way out I remembered the dining in where I met (was in a receiving line) Eva Gabor. Coincidently, I just ran into that program. It was 9 Sept. 1978. The luncheon was fun. I sat next to one of the new widowers from Sunday support, ignoring the "reserved" sign. And some other SSupport people sat at the same table. I'd chosen the Asian Noodle lunch, and it was delicious. Then the entertainment was a fashion show. I was all prepared to be bored till I realized the models were people from WPAC, people who are NOT fashion models. The clothing looked great on them. I saw cruise wear. Well, I think my cruise is not going for glamour, but hey, maybe next time. I enjoyed the fashion show and am seriously considering shopping at the boutique. I apparently dropped or didn't pick up one $20 bill when I went to the ATM. Grumble. Oooh, a skunk outside. I was scared to let the dog out, but fortunately he didn't tangle with the stinky pussy. I can't open the windows tonight.
