Niki Shinneman Yarnot Watching Gabe "wink" at someone is about the funniest thing ever.
Today we really wanted to go to the pizza party in Yuba City, and to geocache on the way. Would the storms stop in time? We decided to wait till after lunch because it looked like it would be clear then. And, indeed, apart from one (really bad) squall, we had clear (though windy and c-c-c-cold) caching.
And snow geese!!
Then I looked on the other side of the road and a bald eagle was flying low there! I grabbed the camera and turned it on and followed it, then turned it off and closed it up. Unfortunately, I hadn't actually turned it on to begin with, so the only thing I got was at the end, putting the camera down and closing it. Sulk! Still, a very very neat sight.
15 caches, 2 no-finds, 1.3 miles walked. We got the two I thought we might not get because they were too high, and we found one that hadn't been found since July that I was also wondering about.
Rich got a toy car in the raffle. And we told people how the chemo is going so far. A good day!
0bama Unveils Surreal Budget . In this budget, in his refusal to do anything concrete to tackle the looming entitlement debt, in his failure to address the generational injustice, in his blithe indifference to the increasing danger of default, he has betrayed those of us who took him to be a serious president prepared to put the good of the country before his short term political interests. [Andrew Sullivan, of all people] ...To all those under 30 who worked so hard to get this man elected, know this: he just screwed you over. He thinks you’re fools. Either the US will go into default because of Obama’s cowardice, or you will be paying far far more for far far less because this president has no courage when it counts. He let you down. On the critical issue of America’s fiscal crisis, he represents no hope and no change. Just the same old Washington politics he once promised to end.
I’m tempted to say that this, not ObamaCare, will be the cornerstone of his legacy, but that’s really a false choice. They’re two sides of the same coin: He has a policy agenda but we don’t have the money to pay for it, and so one or the other must yield.
