Santa Carving from Cottonwood Bark

This is a new Santa carving of mine introduced this season.

This Old World Santa carving is perfect for a table top Christmas decoration, shelf or wall hanging.  It has a lot of carved facial details and is approximately 11 1/4 inches tall x 4 inches wide at its widest point x 2 1/2 inches in thickness.  This Santa is free standing and flat on the back.  All of my work is done with traditional hand carving tools and no power tools are used.

I hand carved this Old World Santa from thick cottonwood bark from a fallen tree.  The bark is natural with knotholes and cracks that I worked into the design.   Each piece of bark is unique so no two of my Santa carvings are ever alike.  It is hand painted with acrylic paint and finished with my own antiquing technique.  Each carving is an original, dated and signed by me, Dave Barley.
