Hello
Well, hello there. A lot has happened these past few weeks and I've been trying to not bother with everything that much. Family, holidays, health, wealth and so forth, it's all just added to the list.

We celebrated Divali (the festival of lights) two days ago here in Trinidad. This year was a vast improvement over previous celebrations because of the State Of Emergency existing in the twin island state at the moment. Fireworks and such were prohibited so we had a peaceful and calm night. There was just one incident when a fool passed in a car and set off a "scratch bomb" which was loud and terrible. Later I helped light some of the deyas in the gallery using a lighted candle.

One thing that bothered me was the fact that few neighbours shared the usual goodies amongst the neighbourhood. My younger sister made a few batches of sweets (barfi, gulab jamon, kurma) but we didn't get the opportunity to share much. The meal for the day was prepared by my younger sister and my mammy. My second sister visited with my brother-in-law (her spouse) and later my brother visited for a short time with his spouse (they didn't stay long because of the curfew in effect). It was a good day.

I had bought a mobile 'phone on a special introductory offer and it seemed like a great deal. The charge in the battery lasted over a week with normal use (for me) and it was good for its price. Then it just stopped functioning properly. The screen was unreadable as it was badly corrupted with noise and static. I carried it in to the dealer and they kept it to return it to the company. I was supposed to get their call in seven working days when they got it back after it was repaired.

After about three weeks I went in to find out what was wrong. They said that the courier hadn't returned the 'phone as yet and they were expecting it by next week. They called this Monday past as they had received it. I asked my father to drive me to the mall. There was water gathered up due to the rain and I got my shoes soaked when I made my way to the entrance to the mall. Anyway, I went and collected the set and gave them the SIM card and memory card to put in for me. I suspected this at first but it wasn't until I reached home that I verified that they had just given me a brand new 'phone to replace the other one.

Right now the new one seems to be working perfectly and I'm being extra cautious with it. I also visited the photo studio in the mall to purchase a carrying bag for my new camera. Before I left, my father said that he had visited the bookstore and he got a few used books. I just went in and found out the price for the Star Wars paperback novels I saw. They were $65.00 TTD each! I didn't buy any and then we left after walking in the water again to get to the car.

Well, I have a new camera but I still am using the old one for taking food photographs. The new one is more advanced and sophisticated with all the new technology and so forth, but would you know that it cost less than my old one? Even after checking the final price after shipping, etc. all the accessories which I needed for the old one ended up being at a higher cost than what I paid for the new one. I ordered a spare battery and I hope that it arrives with no problems.

The photographs which I took so far with the new one are featured in the last update of my website at http://vijay636.byethost5.com

They are mostly shots of flowers so far. It features a good optical zoom level and there is also an auto-focus feature and stabilizing feature which takes away the need for bulky equipment which I can't carry around anyway. I also took one or two pictures of the deyas in the yard which I sent to my oldest sister and my niece.

I got the new Evanescence album too; the DVD is really good entertainment. The extra songs are really wonderful too - two in particular are really almost playing in my mind non-stop. If you can, get "Say You Will" and "Disappear" in your music collection for listening. The album is pretty heavy but it is still wonderful music. " Hello, hello. Remember me?"

I finally got a copy of the movie "The Matrix" on DVD. It is a newer improved version of the 1999 release disc but guess what? The bonus features like the software extras and interactive content don't work on my notebook PC. I suspect that they'll work on the older desktop PC but the mouse gives trouble there and the DVD drive is one with the tray that has the disc resting on it; I don't want my brand new DVD to get scratched or worse.

I felt really weird when I viewed up to the scene where Neo was about to begin training with Tank as operator. I took it off and went to bed. Today I spent time through the entire movie to get pictures of the characters. See my results at http://vijay.5gigs.net

The first time I saw the movie on television I remember it being close to three hours running time with few advertisements. I also remember scenes which are not present in this DVD version. I do not know how I'll be able or if I'll be able to get the theatre version i.e. the first screening version for my personal use.

Please remember to visit my websites when you have the opportunity!

Have a good existence! -Vijay.
