New 52 Batgirl

In September, 2011, as one of the New 52 titles, Barbara Gordon once again became Batgirl.

The events of The Killing Joke took place three years before the current storyline, and while it is established she was paraplegic during that time, Barbara Gordon has regained her mobility after undergoing experimental surgery at a South African clinic.

In the initial story arc, Barbara moves out of her father Commissioner Gordon's house. Alysia Yeoh becomes her new roommate. In her first real case she battles a serial-killer named The Mirror who targets those that have escaped death through miracles. Batgirl next has to deal with a brain-damaged psychic named Gretel who reminds her of the person she could easily have become.

Additionally, Barbara Gordon is a member of the Birds of Prey. While she is not the focus of the series she is an essential part of the team.
